Summer is the perfect time for booking into those bars and restaurants you’ve been thinking about for ages, and finally making the time to give them a try! The longer days and lighter evenings are the perfect backdrop for trying delicious gourmet food, local delicacies, and glorious afternoon teas, whether you are with a partner, a friend, the kids, or indulging in some solo time. If you find yourself exploring a new part of the UK this summer, that is also a wonderful excuse to check out local restaurants and find a new favourite!

If you really want to try an excellent new eatery in the UK, but aren’t sure where to start, we’ve got you covered! Here are five of our top restaurants to visit in the UK this summer, and you can book a table at any of them through Squaremeal which makes things fantastically simple!

The Pump Room, Bath

If you are ever anywhere near Bath, it’s worth heading to the Pump Room where you can treat yourself to a delicious afternoon tea and a setting that’s oozing with amazing history. The Pump Room is above the Roman Baths, and was built in 1795. It’s been a popular destination with locals and tourists alike ever since its inception, and isn’t one to miss!

Aqua Nueva, Soho

Aqua Nueva is the place to go if you’re after delightful Spanish tapas. You can enjoy all of the wonders of Spanish cuisine while dining atop a sleek and stylish rooftop terrace. If you can, try and get yourself a table to coincide with sunset. There is nothing quite like enjoying delicious food with a rooftop sunset view of London stretching out in front of you!

The Anthologist, Manchester

Manchester is a vibrant and buzzing city, especially when it comes to nightlife, food, and drink. While visiting this amazing northern powerhouse of a city, it would me amiss not to visit The Anthologist, which can be found on St Peter’s Square, overlooking the impressive Central Library. The Anthologist serves food all day, but book in early to enjoy an extensive breakfast menu of divine breakfast foods to start your day off on the right foot.

Number One Restaurant, Edinburgh

Number One Restaurant in Edinburgh has been featured in the best restaurants in Edinburgh guide, and has also received a Gold Squaremeal Award, just in case you need any persuasion to visit while you’re in the area. The restaurant has a Michelin star, and it’s the perfect palce to settle down for the ultimate fine dining experience!

Osip, Somerset

If you want a real farm to table kind of meal, then book yourself in at Osip in Somerset. The restaurant itself may look modest, but do not be deceived, because the food is expertly prepared and cooked to absolute perfection. If the food hasn’t come straight from the local farm, it’s come from the kitchen garden, and it really doesn’t get much fresher than that!

There you have it – five fantastic places to eat in the UK. As it happens, these five choices are all in England – what do you think, should we do a ‘top 5’ list for Wales and Scotland too? Let us know!
